Another gorgeous day at the Sedalia Area Farmers' Market and our customer count continues to grow. Thank you for loving fresh, local food! We were delighted to have 13 vendors on hand, our largest count yet. Strawberries, herbal vinegars, Napa/Chinese cabbage (perfect for wraps), turnips, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, spring greens, organic eggs, whole grain breads and rolls, gourds (ours is hanging in the redbud out the back door, holes drilled courtesy Robert Larm!) extremely tempting sweet breads, and more, more, more.
Above: One of our new Market bags (yours, too, with a $10.00 donation to the Market) filled with goodness (this one is my mother's)!
Mr. Rex Roberts, of Seasons Greens, a farm of organically grown greens, sprouts, etc. donated roughly twenty pounds of gorgeous greens to Open Door Ministries and CASA from his end-of-day surplus. Thank you, Rex (and Christy), for making fresh vegetables available to all!
We were thrilled to debut our debit/EBT/food stamp machine, thanks to a grant from the Missouri Department of Agriculture. After a minor glitch (it rejected the cards of nearly all of our wonderful Market staff), the rest of the transactions went smoothly. Just a reminder that a $1.00 fee is added to all debit transactions, as we are charge 60 cents for each, plus a monthly service charge. Now lack of cash is no obstacle to healthy food!
Bev Hayes, our marketing liaison, demonstrated her surprisingly crafty skills by making and donating three lovely sandwich boards for the Market! We used one at our Market tent, one for the special guest local author Becky Imhauser (signing her book "All Along Ohio Street"), and one for our vendor spotlight, Clinton & Miriam Knox & family. Thank you, Bev! (And Jack for letting us "use" Bev!)
Many were entertained by Mr. Ryan Webb, throwing pottery on his wheel right there at the booth he and his mother, Becky, share. Fascinating!
How many of you have seen the "push duck" at the Larm's Farm tent? Often it is seen "wandering" several yards from the Larm tent, guided by small hands delighting in the slap, slap, slap of it rubber feet on the ground. The duck has no name, and we need your help to name it! Either email us at info@sedaliaareafarmersmarket.com or tell us at Tuesday's market!
Enjoy the photos (and note our young guitar protege', Miss Piper, taking a lesson or two from "Doctor" Bill Gordon and his magic guitar)! See you at the Market!
Bev Hayes built beautiful sandwich boards for the Market!
