Our first Tuesday market went quite well. Before the Market opened, we wished our neighbor Juanita (of Juanita's Antiques--awesome store!) a happy 39th (??) birthday with a hanging basket of purple petunias courtesy SFCC Horticulture Club (thanks, guys!).
We welcomed four new vendors: Annie Albright of Bright Hope Farm with handmade herbal soaps, body scrubs, shaving cream, vinegars, and more (thanks for keeping the market master tent smelling so wonderful!); Shelley Wuellner of Barrett Street Bakery with artisanal breads and rolls (oh my goodness!), who sold out in about 30 minutes; Sam & Juanita Kraybill with the loveliest hanging baskets and baked goods, raspberry and peach jams (mmmmmmm . . .); Rex Roberts from Seasons Farm with spring greens, spinach, head lettuce, radishes, green onions, tomato plants (including heirloom varieties) and more. We enjoyed the bounty of repeat vendors: Walter Brubacker and family of Harmony Hill Farm; Clinton Knox and his mother Edith; Gary and Dawn Hostetler of Gary's Berries (it should be called Gary's "You-Better-Get-Here-Early-Or-They're-Gone Berries"); Bruce Bird of Ozark Prairie Apiary with the most wonderful autumnal and vernal honies you've ever tasted I'll bet; Val and Robert Larm of Larm's Farm; and Becky Thomas with her handmade lotions, soaps, and blankets helping to raise breast cancer screening awareness (love that license plate, Becky: CHK EM).
We had a surprise hula hooping family stop by to entertain. Thanks, Heather Hughes! We hope you and the hoops (handmade!) will be market regulars. (See photos below)
We still need help spreading the word about the Market, especially on Tuesdays. "Two minute Tuesdays" Mark Raetz suggested--get folks accustomed to popping in to the Market to pick up fresh produce for the rest of the week--and two minutes is not an exaggeration!

Sam Kraybill sets up on the alley with a gorgeous plant selection (not to mention homemade SLICED bread and jam).

Organic English cucumbers, traditional cukes, and tomatoes from Clinton Knox. The BEST May tomato I've ever tasted--can't beat fresh picked and local, even if it is a hothouse tomato!

Shelley Wuellner's artisanal breads and rolls. I think I ate over half of the crusty bread myself (drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with fresh ground pepper, and a slice of tomato . . . heaven).

Annie and Mark Albright of Bright Hope Farm with delicious smelling soaps, scrubs, lip balm, shaving cream, herbal healing packs, etc. Annie just returned from an herb conference with luminaries in the healing herbs field ("herb nerds" we teased Annie).

Rex Roberts of Seasons Farm with an assortment of delightful spring greens, spinach, lettuce, green onions, radishes, tomato plants, and more.

And the hula hoopin' . . . don't know who that big kid in the apron is . . .
Can't wait until Saturday! Eight to NOON! Be well!
